Welcome to Hot Rod Tempest.com!  A full restoration of my Tempest is underway as of 03/20/06.  I am anticipating its completion for the summer of 2012.  It has been over 6 years since I began the project.   I will update the site regularly with details and photos as I perform the restoration. I am performing a full frame off nut and bolt restoration so there will be lots to see.  There is nothing stock about this car.  This is a high performance oriented build.  I am on a strict budget  so I will be doing most of the work myself with exception of the paint.   Let me know what you think of the site.

Updated: 02/27/2012 Welcome to the New Hotrod Tempest Web Site! Well, she took 1st place and Peoples Choice Awards at Mosquito Lake Car Show last fall! It was her first car show. I'm looking forward to the 2012 Show Car Season! Here's where I'm at with the car. As most of you know who follow the site, I had some issues with the engine. It had cylinder leak down issues and over heating issues. I decided to buy a new block and start from scratch. I bought a new 455 block from Gary Cygan of Cygan Speed & Engineering in Butler, Pa. Don Blackshear Engines is building the motor which should be completed by late spring. The engine is going to be similar to the old one with a few changes. The new block is tapped for 4 bolt mains so I am most likely going to add 4 bolt main caps. Also, we are going to be running just under 11.0:1 compression to keep it a pump gas motor. Also we are going with .10 over J&E forged pistons. I'm sticking with the Lunati Voodoo cam for now. Also, I am adding a Flow Kooler water pump to tame down the heat issue.  After the engine is completed, it is going to Cygan Speed & Engineering for Dyno Testing and tuning. Gary uses a Stuska Dyno and has a very impressive shop not to mention a killer 10 second 71 GTO and a sick 71 GTO Chassis car he is building. I still need to have the rear end set up with a posi and gears. I'm not sure if it is going to be in the budget for a while though. Also, I still have to have a headliner put in the car. I will have that done as soon as the engine is back in the car. I have some more exciting news about Hotrod Tempest I will share later this spring!  Keep Tuned!
